Resident Life

Message from Chief Residents

Welcome to Wisconsin!

Thanks for your interest in our residency program. One of the great things about our program is that we have a diverse and collegial group of residents. At work, we overall emphasize a cooperative rather than competitive mentality.  While it can get busy and our residents definitely work hard, they enjoy multiple recreational activities as well.  Outside of work residents get together to unwind and just have fun. We have numerous social occasions throughout the year, including events sponsored by the department (e.g. banquets, BBQs, baby showers), the UW Housestaff Association or most often, just a group of pathology residents organizing an impromptu gathering (e.g. Paycheck Thursdays, Trivia Nights, Sunset at the Union Terrace.  Though the winters can be cold, that’s no excuse for staying inside as the Madison area offers top-notch skiing and ice-fishing. The University also offers great amenities, including exercise facilities, BIG10 Badger athletics, and other campus events throughout the year.

We’d be happy to answer any questions you might have about our program or quality of life in Madison.  Again, thank you for your interest in our pathology residency program.
